Forum, rules, and a resource calculator for the Alegacy Vintage Story server.
Alegacy is a Vintage Story server with a community around it — and a community needs more than a chat channel. It needs one place that holds the rules, the conversations, and the small tools that make playing easier. This site is that place, and building it was my first real lesson in designing for a world I don't own.
What it is
A community website for the server: a forum for discussions, a clear rules section, and a resource calculator players can use while planning what to build in the game. Content is managed so the server team can update things without waiting on a developer.
What it taught me
Borrowing beats inventing, usually. I built on an existing CMS instead of writing everything from scratch, and that decision shaped the whole project. Knowing when not to build turned out to be a skill of its own.
Rules are interface. On a roleplay-heavy server, the written rules do more work than any feature — they set expectations, prevent disputes, and define the culture of the place.
Small tools carry weight. A humble calculator ended up mattering as much as the forum, because it answered a question players actually had in the middle of a session.
Look at behavior instead of guessing at it. Analytics showed me how much my assumptions about visitors differed from reality. I stopped designing for the user I imagined and started designing for the one who showed up.
Where it stands
